Study On The Painting Language Of Huang Gongwang’s "The Painting Of Nine Peaks After Snow"

As a common theme in Chinese painting,snow landscape has created a desolate,indifferent and lonely artistic conception with rich ideological and aesthetic connotation,which is highly respected and loved by ancient literati and painters.Therefore,there are a large number of famous snow landscape works in history.As an important figure in the transformation of Shan shui in the Song and Yuan Dynasties,Huang Gongwang loved and painted snow all his life.At present,three known works have been handed down,namely,the Painting of Sunny Snow in Fast Snow,the Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing,and the Painting of Visiting Danxi.The snow landscape works of the other three of the Four Masters of the Yuan dynasty’s four schools have long disappeared into the dust of history.The Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing,which was painted by Huang Gongwang at the age of 81 in the first month of the ninth year of Zhizheng,is one of his important representative works in his later years.This article will analyze the painting language of Huang Gongwang’s Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing,and reveal Huang Gongwang’s artistic creation process,thus giving some inspiration to the current painting practice.After the downfall of the Southern Song Dynasty,some literati and officials began to live in seclusion.Since Zhao Mengfu proposed that "painting is precious and has an ancient meaning",it has guided the aesthetic trend of literati painting throughout the Yuan Dynasty.On the basis of Zhao Mengfu’s pursuit of "simplicity",Huang Gongwang traces back to the Jin and Tang dynasties,which is of great interest.Huang Gongwang’s Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing is full of profound humanistic feelings.The main research content of this paper is this painting.The main research contents are as follows: The first part is an overview of the snow landscape,mainly discussing the snow Shan shui painting before the Yuan Dynasty.The second part mainly elaborates the creation background of Huang Gongwang’s Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing,and compares and analyzes the Painting of Nine Peaks after Snowing with two snow landscapes outside.The third part is the main part of this paper,which mainly elaborates on the painting origin and language of "Nine Peaks after Snow",analyzes its expression of empty hooks and few cracks,and interprets the beauty of the brushwork,composition,and imagery of "Nine Peaks after Snow".The fourth part discusses the practical significance of the painting "Nine Peaks After Snow".
