English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)recommend making efforts to raise students’ proficiency in language use and core literacy.Reading classes are an essential type of class to develop core literacy.Although teachers place a high value on teaching reading,numerous problems still exist,including the rigorous teaching model and exam-focused question types.The development of the standard of English reading teaching is severely hindered by these problems.Deep learning places an emphasis on critical thinking,active learning,transference and utilization of knowledge.These features have the capacity to advance the current situation as well as meet the expectations of the new curriculum reform.As a teaching model based on deep learning theory,the deep learning cycle seeks to direct students toward in-depth knowledge comprehension so that they can fully comprehend the teaching content and foster their core literacy.The researcher employs the deep learning cycle in English reading teaching.Below are the primary research questions:(1)What are the effects of teaching model based on deep learning theory on students’ English reading attitude?(2)What are the effects of teaching model based on deep learning theory on students’ English reading performance?The study was conducted in a junior high school in Shenyang for three months with 50 students in Class 3 of Grade 8 as the research subjects.The entire research process was made up of two rounds of action research,including identifying problems,making plans,implementing plans,reflecting and evaluating,and summarizing.The researcher utilized questionnaires,interviews,and tests to gather data from two rounds of action research and analyzed the data with SPSS 27.0 software.The researcher reached conclusions following a thorough data analysis: the teaching model based on deep learning theory exerts a positive impact on English reading.First,the teaching model can enhance students’ English reading attitude.Moreover,students’ English reading performance has also enhanced.
