For a long time,in the exam-oriented education system,many teachers only pay attention to the imparting of knowledge,but ignore the cultivation of students’ deep learning ability.In 2014,China launched the eighth Basic Education Curriculum Reform.This new curriculum reform takes the cultivation of students’ core competencies as the goal of curriculum reform.Core competencies refers to the internalization,generation,transfer and creation of knowledge by learners under the guidance of teachers,which is to cultivate students’ ability of deep learning.Therefore,deep learning has become a research hotspot in education and teaching circles.This research will take the deep learning strategy as the entry point,and on the basis of careful reference to previous studies on deep learning theory,carry out action research,and make great efforts to figure out the application of reading strategies effectively in the current middle school English reading process,so as to further improve the current situation of shallow reading level of students.There are 45 students from a class in grade 8 of a middle school in C city were selected as the research objects for a 4-month action research in this study.Both action studies followed the teaching process of “deep learning strategy” and conducted action research from three dimensions: pre-assessment strategy,knowledge integration strategy and evaluation strategy.The following three issues are mainly studied:(1)How to conduct English reading teaching based on “deep learning strategies” in junior middle school?(2)After two rounds of action research,what is the effect of pre-assessment strategy,knowledge integration strategy and evaluation strategy based on “deep learning strategy” on English reading performance of the students?(3)After two rounds of action research,what is the effect of pre-assessment strategy,knowledge integration strategy and evaluation strategy based on “deep learning strategy” on English reading interest of the students?After in-depth analysis of the test papers,interview outline and questionnaire date,the author draws the following conclusions:(1)Before the action research,students’ reading scores were not high and their reading interest was low.(2)Before the action research,students rarely used deep learning strategies in English reading.(3)After the action research,the deep learning strategy effectively changed the status quo of students’ reading,and students’ reading interest and reading performance have been improved obviously.From this action research,the author has obtained the following enlightenment:From the perspective of teachers,teachers should use deep learning strategies for teaching design,and become the sharing of reading resources,the planner of reading activities and the guide of reading reflection in the process of students’ reading before,during and after reading.From the perspective of students,students should make deep learning strategies really implemented in reading,and use pre-assessment strategies before reading,knowledge integration strategies in reading,and evaluation strategies after reading.At the same time,students should also establish deep learning awareness,cultivate deep learning thinking,so as to improve their English reading ability.This research also sums up the limitations of this action research,in order to provide some reference for future related. |
