Recently,deep learning,as a learning form,has received widespread attention because it can cultivate future competences such as critical thinking and collaboration skills.These competences are indispensable in the 21stcentury.Besides,deep learning is related with students’English core competences and high-order thinking so it has been widely concerned by scholars and teachers at home and abroad.In this research,deep learning is conducted in English reading teaching in order to study the effects of deep learning on students’English reading performance and high-order skills in 40 students from Class 3,Grade 8 of a junior high school in Shenyang.To be specific,the research questions are as follows:1.What are the effects of deep learning on students’English reading performance?2.What are the effects of deep learning on students’high-order skills?The action research lasts about three months and includes three instruments,including the reading tests,the questionnaire about high-order skills,and the interviews.The data is collected and analyzed by SPSS 25.0.The major findings in the study are stated as follows.First of all,deep learning can improve students’English reading performance on the cloze,reading comprehension,answering questions and comprehensive reading.Besides,it is proved that deep learning can improve students’high-order skills,including analyzing information,making decisions,cooperation,creativity,and far transfer.Though there are many limitations in the research,it is hoped that the study can offer some valuable suggestions for further relevant researches. |
