With the continuous progress of the new curriculum reform,the English curriculum in primary school has received more and more attention.In the compulsory education stage,English class is carried out in the third grade of primary school.The listening and speaking class is an important part of English teaching.It plays an important role in improving students’ comprehensive ability to use language.As far as middle school students are concerned,students mainly think in concrete images.Therefore,teaching should follow this rule to stimulate students’ interest in English learning,mobilize their enthusiasm for learning,let students learn how to learn,and improve teaching quality.This study selects six English teachers and the students in class two,grade four of the primary school as the research objects,and tries to investigate and analyze the current situation of English listening and speaking class through classroom observation,teacher interviews and other methods based on deep learning theory.In order to explore and construct the mode of English listening and speaking class in the middle stage of primary school under the concept of deep learning.Classroom observation understands teachers’ teaching and students’ learning status from the four dimensions of activating previous knowledge,acquiring new knowledge,in-depth processing of knowledge,and summarizing and reflecting.Interviews are carried out to further understand teachers’ views on in-depth learning.The results show that:from the perspective of teachers,teachers do not have a thorough understanding of the concept of deep learning,there is a phenomenon that teaching activities are single in classroom teaching,and teachers focus on teaching basic knowledge while ignoring the development of students’ other aspects of ability.The emphasis on English is not enough,the teacher is the only one to follow in learning,and there is a lack of awareness of summary and reflection.With the help of teaching action research,combining with the characteristics of students in the intermediate grade and English teaching characteristics.Then based on the theory of deep learning,the teaching mode is constructed from seven aspects: teaching preparation,pre-class testing,creating situations,connecting previous knowledge,teaching new knowledge,deep processing of knowledge,and evaluation and reflection.Based on the mode of English listening and speaking class in the middle stage of elementary school,two rounds of teaching practice are carried out,and then the corresponding teaching suggestions are analyzed and summarized.In the English listening and speaking class,teachers should create a teaching situation that stimulates students’ interest and is closely related to students’ lives.Before formal learning,teachers should clarify the teaching objectives to students.In the teaching process,respect the subject status of the students,guide the students to process the knowledge deeply on the basis of the new knowledge after learning,and pay attention to the cultivation of the students’ habit of summarizing and reflecting.
