As a communicative language,English must have both instrumental and humanistic characteristics.As an important language ability,English listening and speaking skills play an important role in promoting students to speak English boldly in reality.The important goal of learning English should be based on cultivating students’ ability to use a language.Primary school advanced English listening and speaking teaching focuses on the input and output of English language.Teachers create real language situations in teaching,enhance the practical practice of English learning,and cultivate students’ English expression ability.Situational teaching method in primary school English listening and speaking teaching,it can stimulate students’ emotional experience by creating situations,so that students can gain new knowledge in a specific situation,think positively,and express themselves bravely,which can cater to the psychological characteristics of primary school students with strong curiosity,lively and active.With the continuous updating of modern teaching methods,the situational teaching method has been widely used in the front-line English teaching.However,in the front-line listening and speaking class,teachers are more likely to emphasize "listening" and ignore the training of students’ English thinking and expression ability.In order to effectively improve the teaching effect of English listening and speaking classes in primary schools,this study studies the application of situational teaching method in English English listening and speaking classes from the first-line classroom record.Through observation,interview and other research methods,the problems existing in the situational teaching method in listening and speaking teaching are explored,and the improvement suggestions are put forward.This thesis mainly studies the following issues:1.The application status of situational teaching method in advanced English listening and speaking classes in primary schools.2.Main problems existing in the application of situational teaching method in advanced English listening and speaking classes in primary schools.3.What are the factors that affect the application effect of situational teaching method in the listening and speaking classroom.4.How to use the situational teaching method efficiently in the advanced English listening and speaking class in primary school.I have completed a three-month teaching practice in S Primary School in Jinan city.During the internship,the senior students and English teachers of the primary school were effectively observed and analyzed.The first step,based on the design of LICC classroom observation scale,observed and recorded the English listening and speaking class of grade five and six,so as to understand the practical application of situational teaching method in the senior English listening and speaking class of the school.The second step is that 10 senior English teachers and 12 students from grade five to six were interviewed to investigate the attitudes and opinions of teachers and students on the application of situational teaching in listening and speaking class.The third step is to analyze and sort out the data of observation and interview records,and put forward suggestions for improvement.Through the research and analysis,it is found that,firstly,most English teachers will use the situational teaching method;secondly,the situation creation in the advanced English listening and speaking class is characterized by "lack of authenticity and rationality and ignoring students’ subjectivity".Based on this,the thesis puts forward some improvement suggestions from the concept level,practice level and reflection level respectively,hoping to provide reference for the teaching of front-line teachers.
