| This report is based on the author’s simultaneous interpreting practice of badminton sports events commentary. The text material of this project is the CCTV Chinese Commentary of the 2018-2019 China Badminton Super League. The information output is in the form of impromptu dialogue, which contains both professional terms and habitual expressions. In this interpretation practice, colloquial information is the main difficulty, which is reflected in two aspects, semantic ambiguity and sentences with loose logic. The Interpretive Theory proposed by Paris Interpretive School emphasizes that the object of interpretation, translation and expression is not the form of the original language, but the meaning and thought to be expressed by the speaker or author. This theory emphasizes that the translator should abandon the external language format and translate the essential meaning. Its main purpose is to convey meaning without being affected by the external form of language.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory, the essence of coping with the above mentioned difficulties in this interpreting practice is to correctly understand the colloquial information in the commentary language, find out the core meaning and convey it to the audience. Therefore, this report puts forward several strategies for the two aspects of the above-mentioned problems:(1)for interpreting semantic ambiguity, using omission, information manifestation and cognitive supplement;(2)for interpreting sentences with loose logic, using logic manifestation, generalization and anticipation.Interpreting practice shows that the above strategies can effectively cope with the difficulties in this interpretation project, which may hopefully provide useful guidance and reference for other interpreters and the author as well to better handle simultaneous interpreting for sports commentary. |
