The writing of master’s degree thesis of MTCSOL is an important link in training graduate students,and it is also one of the main ways to test the professional level of colleges and universities.As the beginning of thesis writing,the topic selection determines the structural framework and value influence of the whole thesis writing.Therefore,the research on the topic selection of the thesis is conducive to understanding the training situation of master’s talents in this major,and is conducive to the training units to adjust and improve the training scheme in time according to the specific situation,so as to promote the professional development.In addition,since the topic selection of master’s degree thesis of MTCSOL is mostly combined with teaching practice,the topic selection of research thesis can also help training units understand the real teaching situation of Chinese teaching in a certain area,and provide more valuable reference for Chinese teaching and international promotion and dissemination of Chinese culture.In view of this,taking the discipline nature and training objectives of MTCSOL as the research background,based on the corpus of 159 master’s degree theses of MTCSOL major in Anhui University University from 2016 to 2020,this paper studies the characteristics of topic selection of master’s degree theses of MTCSOL major in Anhui University University by means of investigation,quantitative analysis and comparative analysis.The research shows that,the topic selection of Anhui University University’s master’s thesis on MTCSOL from 2016 to 2020 has the following characteristics: Generally speaking,there are serious imbalances in six aspects: "Language Knowledge","Second Language Acquisition and Learning Strategies","Teaching Organization and Classroom Management","Teaching Methods","Culture and Communication" and "Teachers’ Comprehensive Quality";In terms of topic selection orientation,the top five topics favored by students are "Chinese Research Based on Second Language Teaching","Teaching Resources","Classroom Management" and "Teaching Theory";In the evolution of topic selection,in the past five years,the weaker topics are "Learning Strategies","Curriculum Design","Learner Factors","Cultural Studies Based on Second Language Teaching","Cultural Comparison" and "Cross-cultural Communication",while the stronger topics are "Chinese Studies Based on Second Language Teaching","Error Acquisition Research","Teaching Theory","Teaching Environment","Teacher Growth","Teacher Training" and "Extracurricular Activities".The main advantages of this paper are the rich and colorful content of the topic,the flourishing of national research,and the outstanding characteristics of serialization of the topic etc.;Shortcomings lie in the focus of topic selection,low attention to topic selection of cultural communication and communication,and insufficient research on teachers’ quality etc.Finally,the research puts forward pointed suggestions from the following three aspects: the topic selection itself,the training unit and the students themselves,which has realistic significance for improving the quality of topic selection,student training and student topic selection of master’s thesis of MTCSOL major in Anhui University University.
