An E-C Translation Report On Breaking Free Of Child Anxiety And OCD (Chapters Ten And Eleven)

The mental health of adolescents and children is crucial for parents and society.The source text is taken from Breaking Free of Child Anxiety and OCD by Eli R.Lebowitz,which is about the SPACE program(Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).The chapters translated by the translator focus on the problems and matters needing attention that may be encountered in the early stages of program implementation,and provides many faithful examples.The translation project was completed using Yi CAT machine translation combined with post-translation editing,which not only provides new theoretical guidance for the treatment of anxiety and OCD in children,but also helps parents cope with anxiety and OCD in children.In the process of proofreading,the translator found some problems in the initial translation,which included inaccurate understanding,Europeanization of Chinese,incoherent sentences,and redundant or concise wording.In order to solve these problems,the translator strengthened the understanding of the original words and sentences with the help of the Internet and the context,and used the translation methods of conversion of parts of speech,rewriting the source text,word-order rearrangement,amplification and omission to improve the quality of the translation.In the third chapter of this report,the translator selects and analyzes typical cases in detail from the perspectives of comprehension,expression and adaptation.For the translator,this translation project not only improved the translator’s knowledge reserves of anxiety and OCD,but also honed translation skills and enriched translation theoretical knowledge through writing translation report.At the same time,the translator hopes that this translation report can provide other translators with solutions to similar translation problems when translating similar texts.
