Guangzhou Thirteen Hongs’ trade painting is a unique type of painting formed during the trade between China and the western countries.Trade painting occurred in the mid-18 th century,reached its peak in the 19 th century,and gradually declined in the mid-19 th century with the dissolution of the Guangzhou Thirteen Hongs.As the third way of west influence,in addition to the Christian Church’s mission to China and Chinese students’ studying abroad,it leads the result of folk’s influence by the west,reflecting the unique folklore.It has truly recorded all aspects of the life of Guangzhou citizens at that time,which is an extremely valuable historical catalogue with important reference value for the study of Chinese and Western cultural and artistic exchanges.In the 19 th century,this painting studied the expression of folk customs and styles and practiced in five parts.The first is a comprehensive analysis of the research background,significance,content and methods,status,and innovation points related were made.The second is the period background of the Guangzhou coast in the 19 th century,the theories related to folk customs,their development process involved were elaborated respectively.The third is to analyze trade oil paintings to create the background of the times on the theme of folk customs and search image data of trade oil paintings through consulting relevant materials and on-the-spot investigations,and classify based on the folk customs.The fourth is to study the expressive style and art value of Guangzhou Thirteen Hongs’ trade oil painting.Firstly,it analyzed the painting styles of the 19 th century trade oil paintings from two time periods;secondly,it further studied the painting language features in three aspects of composition,color,and shape;finally,it studied on the art value of exported trading oil painting.The fifth is artistic creation practice was inspired by them in 19 th century and the research and creation practice of different local folk customs were conducted separately,to determine the creation content.Led by the painting language,oil paintings were created to reflect Shanxi folk customs.Figure 64;Table 3;Reference 48...
