| For interpreters,pre-task preparation is crucial to on-site performance.This report explores the relationship between interpreting quality and the adequacy of pre-interpretation preparation,taking the academic conference on early childhood education as the research object.Based on the practice of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting at an online seminar on early childhood education hosted by Ningxia Preschool Education College and guided by Professor Zhang Jiliang’s model of pre-task preparation,the author explores the importance of pre-task preparation to improve the quality of interpretation.This report selects typical cases encountered by the author in his interpreting practice,analyzes the correlation between poor interpreting performance and insufficient pre-task preparation,and aims to discuss the importance of pre-task preparation for interpreting performance.Based on the pre-task preparation model proposed by Professor Zhang Jiliang,the author analyzes various aspects such as terminology,thematic knowledge,the speaker’s language,psychological state and interpreting equipment,and summarizes the inadequacy of pre-task preparation in interpretation practice:not exhaustively sorting out specialized terminology,shallow thematic knowledge,unfamiliarity with the language style of seminars,not having sufficient psychological preparation and having unexpected situations with onsite equipment.To address the above problems,this report proposes a series of corresponding solutions:extracting terms with the help of literature processing software,using artificial intelligence-based search engines to find research backgrounds and government policies,browsing relevant audio and video materials to get familiar with different language styles,simulating interpretation practice to reduce stage fright,learning and mastering the operation of conference and interpretation equipment,etc.Through these solutions,we aim to help other interpreters to effectively prepare for interpretation,so as to improve the quality of interpretation and provide some reference for the career development of interpreters. |
