The ELLE program is a collaborative program among South China Normal University,Vanderbilt University, and Metro Nashville Public School system. It is a two-wayexchange program. Under the program, American principals will study in China for twoweeks on a yearly basis.This report is based on the author’s interpreting practice for a lecture of the ELLEprogram. The lecture was titled “Rethinking the School Curriculum Reform Since2001”.As an interpreter for this program, the author did much preparation before the task. Suchpreparation has proven to be indispensible for the success of this interpretation. Therefore,the author has come to realize the importance of pre-task preparation.This report starts from the introduction of relative theories. Then this report describesthe task and the process of pre-task preparation in particular. After that, this reportanalyzes the effect of pre-task preparation based on the transcript. At last, this reportconcludes that short-term pre-task preparation can significantly enhance the performanceof consecutive interpreting and that long-term pre-task preparation is equally importance. |
