| The translation project of "Communication Between China and the West " is a part of the 2020 Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund of China.The purpose of this project is to publish the outstanding achievements of Chinese philosophy and social science research in foreign languages in foreign authoritative publishing institutions,so as to enhance the international understanding of contemporary China and Chinese traditional culture and enhance the international influence of Chinese philosophy and social science.As an informative text,Communication Between China and the West is an academic Chinese monograph on Chinese history,which explains the integration of "Chinese learning" and "Western learning" in modern cultural exchanges between China and the West.Text typology and skopos theory of functionalist translation theory combine text type,text function,translation purpose and translation strategy,which are highly consistent with the informative,historical and other language characteristics of the source text,and provide systematic theoretical guidance and strategic support for the translation work of this project.In view of this,under the guidance of text typology and skopos theory of functionalist translation theory,this paper provides translation for excerpts from Communication Between China and the West,and explores the translation methods and strategies of words,sentences and texts in combination with the characteristics of the text,with a view to providing reference for similar translation and improving the quality of translation. |
