Seeing an increasingly serious ageing issue,scholars worldwide pay much attention to health condition and survival quality of aging population.As researches from different perspectives have been improved,the translation of texts on ageing is starting to receive attention from the translation community.The practice of translating on the theme of aging is increasing in the domestic market,but the quality of translations varies.In order to analyze the factors that should be taken into account in the translation process,the present author translated Successful Aging(excerpt),a typical informative text,and analyzed the translation under the guidance of Text Typology Theory.In the translation practice,the present author used translation methods of division,combination,inversion,voice change and negation at the textual level,amplification,abstract and concrete,adaption and domestication translation methods at the referential level,communicative translation,repetition and synthesis translation methods at the cohesive level,standard translation,zero translation,transliteration,omission and free translation methods at the level of naturalness.The present author found that appropriate translation methods at four levels referred to by Newmark in his text typology theory can assist the the translator in reproducing the functions of the source text and improve the quality of the translation in the translation practice of informative texts.This report summarized the translation practice with a view to accumulating experience for future translation practice and providing translation references for other translators who are translating informative texts. |
