| As one of the most commonly used sentence patterns in English,attributive clauses are used to modify specific people or things.Because of their changeable positions,diverse forms and great differences from Chinese expression structures,they are difficult points in translation practice.Therefore,the study of the translation of attributive clauses has certain theoretical and practical value.This practice report selects the economic text The Economics of the Stock Market as the task text,which explains Andrew Smithers’ opposition to the neoclassical synthesis and puts forward a new economic theory model.The attributive clause is used many times in this thesis.Therefore,this thesis will take the attributive clause as the starting point,analyze the translation problems encountered in the process of translation practice and propose corresponding solutions.The translated text of this practice report is highly professional and contains a large number of economic terms,which makes it difficult to understand the text.It has high requirements for the professionalism of language expression,accuracy of meaning transmission and intuitive reading effect.Combined with the translation practice of The Economics of the Stock Market,it is found that the effective translation of attributive clauses plays a vital role in understanding the text.In this context,from the perspective of functional equivalence theory,this thesis classifies the problems encountered in translation practice as follows: the sentence structure of attributive clauses is jumbled,the modification relationship is complicated,and the sentence function is diverse,so puts forward corresponding solutions,that is,to solve the problem of sentence structure jumbled by postposition method and fusion method,to solve the problem of modification relationship complicated by repeating antecedents and splitting antecedents,and to solve the problem of the diverse sentence function by changing it into reason adverbial and result adverbial.This translation practice report summarizes how to accurately,intuitively and smoothly translate the attributive clauses in economic texts into Chinese,so that the target language readers can accurately understand and achieve functional equivalence in translation practice.Through the writing of this translation practice report,we have a deeper understanding of the translation of economic texts.It is hoped that this translation practice report can provide new ideas for economic scholars at home and abroad,and provide some reference value for the translation of economic texts and the translation of attributive clauses. |
