Excerpted from the book All To Human:Understanding and Improving Our Human Relationship with Technology, the source text is written by Anne McLaughlin, who analyzes the behavior of characters in selected cases from the perspective of cognitive psychology, illustrating how human cognitive deficits can affect people’s behavior and decision-making.This book is an informative text, therefore, the translator herself should understand the psychological theories involved in the text to ensure that the information is accurately conveyed, and that the translated work to be readable and easy to understand. The report comes in five chapters.Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the author and the work.Chapter Two introduces the theory of Translator Behaviour Criticism, and the"Truth-seeking--Utility-attaining" continuum model of evaluation and the application of this theory in practice.Chapter Three describes the translation process.Chapter Four is the main chapter of the report,in which translating behavioral tendencies are classified into three main orientations:the information delivery, the reader reception, and the translator’s aesthetic.Chapter Five comes to the conclusion.According to the theory of Translator Behavior Criticism, the first one falls in line with the intra-translation factor, while the other two conform to the extra-translation factor. The report has suggested that the theory of Translator Behavior Criticism can effectively guide the translation of informative texts. In the process of translation, the translator chooses appropriate translation strategies and methods on the basis of"truth-seeking" and "utility-attaining",strives to make the target text concise, logical and accurate and provides the target readers with a better reading experience. The author hopes that this report can provide references for the translation of the similar texts.
