The source text is an excerpt from American writer Adam Silvera’s They both die at the end. This book is about the youth literature and it has many psychological and language descriptions. It is set in the near future, and everyone begins their last day on earth by receiving a call.So the two boys got connected with a group of seemingly unrelated people, and spent a scary, interesting, and unexpected day.During the process, they got a different understanding of the meaning of life. There is one challenge of this translation, the two main characters of the source text are totally different in characteristics and experiences. The translator has to express the attitude of the characters and the content of the article accurately, which needs to take different methods of translation. This report is made up of five chapters. The translator selects Chapters 1 to 7 of the original text, about 1,0000 words as the research targets. The first chapter is the description of the task, including the brief introduction of the writer and the source text,as well as its language features.Chapter 2 discusses three stages of the translation process, including pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.Chapter 3 is the basis of theory, which introduces the development and important concepts of Translator Behavior Criticism, and explaining the feasibility of "Truth-seeking" and "Utility-attaining" in guiding this translation practice.Chapter 4 is the analysis of cases with relevant translation strategies. At the level of vocabulary, the translator applies transference,annotation,four-character words, modal particles and so on.At the syntactical level, the translator applies division on sentence order, long sentences and adjustment between positive voice and passive voice.Chapter 5 concludes this report, which includes the translator’s gains and shortcomings.During this practice of translation, the author deeply realizes the significant role of"Truth-seeking" and "Utility-attaining" in the guidance of novel translation practice. The base is "Truth-seeking" while "Utility-attaining" is the aim,the translator can effectively take different methods of translation, accurately conveying the idea of the story or passage and the writer’s thoughts on life.
