| China National Space Administration(CNSA)released the first batch of scientific images of Tianwen-1 landing on Mars on June 11,2021,marking the complete success of China’s first Mars exploration mission.Mars exploration has always been the hot spot in space exploration.In this report,the scientific and technological text of An Astrobiology Strategy for the Exploration of Mars is selected as the main study object in translation,which mainly focuses on the astrobiology strategy of Mars exploration,with its rigorous and standardized writing,logical structure and concise language.In addition,many pictures are interspersed in this book,followed by the captions.The readability of caption is as important as the content of books,especially for scientific and technological text.A good caption plays an important role in the text and enhance its readability.However,being different from other ordinary reading materials,the captions are not easy to translators because its long sentences and contain technical terms,so they are worth studying.Scientific and technological text is practical,and aims to convey information.When translating,translator should not only pay attention to the stylistic style,but also consider the readers,so as to give full play to the translator’s subjective initiative.When translating the captions,it should be unified with the language style of the book content,and play the role of explanation and supplement.As a translation activity,Translation Variation Theory meets the special needs of specific readers under specific conditions through adaption methods,which has strong pertinence.Therefore,under the guidance of Huang Zhonglian’s Translation Variation Theory,the translator uses seven adaption methods such as amplification,deletion,rewriting,edition,combination,narration and condensation to solve the problems encountered in the translation of captions.This report is divided into five parts.The first part is a brief introduction,including the brief introduction of the works and the analysis of captions;The second part is the description of translation process;The third part is the introduction of Translation Variation Theory;The fourth part is the case analysis of captions;The fifth part is the summary. |
