TPRS(Teaching Proficiency through Reading and storytelling)is a teaching method also known as " situation teaching method based on reading and storytelling".In the 1990 s,Blaine Ray proposed a second language teaching method based on the theory and practice of TPR(Total Physical Response)which consists of three steps of complete learning by asking questions,creating and reading stories.Therefore,it has been getting more and more attention by Chinese teachers.The TPRS has been widely used and studied in European and American countries.However,it is still in the initial stage in Korea.In order to verify the effectiveness of TPRS in Primary Oral Chinese teaching for adult Koreans and to enrich the diversity of Primary Oral Chinese teaching methods for adult Koreans,author has taught Chinese course to employees of Samsung Semiconductor Company as an example to explore the applicability of the TPRS in Primary Oral Chinese teaching for adult Koreans.On these basis,some suggestions are put forward for the application of TPRS in Primary Oral Chinese teaching for adult Koreans.The thesis is divided into six chapters:The first chapter describes the research content,significance and methods of this paper,and summarizes relevant literature research at China and abroad.The second chapter introduces the origin and development,theoretical basis,teaching steps and teaching skills of TPRS teaching method.The third chapter records the application process of TPRS teaching method in elementary spoken Chinese Classes for adult Koreans in Xi ’an Samsung Company.The forth chapter evaluated TPRS teaching method from three aspects: student questionnaire survey,student achievement and teacher’s feedback.The fifth chapter summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of TPRS applied in Chinese teaching process,and points out the shortcomings of targeted improvement suggestions.The sixth chapter summarizes the research and suggests the direction of further deepening the research.
