| The number of online Chinese learners has increased dramatically in recent years,and many online Chinese teaching platforms have also emerged during this time.However,effective online Chinese teaching methods for overseas children have not yet been developed.This paper mixes the TPRS teaching method,which is currently popular in online classes,with picture book materials that help children create imaginative spaces,and implements this hybrid model in online Chinese classes for overseas children.The introductory section of this paper includes the background of the chosen topic,the theoretical basis,the research review and the research content.The first chapter presents an overview of the teaching platform W Institution.It then elaborates the concept and nature of the hybrid model,summarises the ten basic teaching steps of the hybrid model,and discusses the value of the hybrid model in teaching Chinese to overseas children online.In the second chapter,under the teaching steps of the hybrid model,it is clearly defined that the selection of picture book materials needs to be carried out according to the principles of fun,relevance,language specification and appropriateness.In addition a compilation of picture book materials for the Enlightenment,L and S courses is carried out through teaching practice.The third chapter implements the previous theories in an online classroom with overseas children,preparing an appropriate instructional design based on classroom observations and teacher reflections.The fourth chapter compares the pre-test and post-test scores of three groups of overseas children in the mixed and regular modes of teaching,and analyses the advantages of the mixed mode.At the same time,the classroom learning of 25 overseas Chinese learners of different ages was investigated to find out the effectiveness of the blended model in online Chinese classes for overseas children.Chapter 5 presents reflections and suggestions for teaching the hybrid model based on the feedback from teachers,other experienced teachers and parents.The concluding section concludes the whole paper and describes the shortcomings of the paper.This study shows that the hybrid model of TPRS teaching method and picture book materials can effectively help overseas children to increase their interest in learning Chinese and improve their oral expression and comprehension skills. |
