The report of the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly points out that the fundamental task of education is to foster morality and cultivate talents for the purpose of training socialist builders and successors who are morally,intellectually,physically and aesthetically well-developed.High school education is a critical period of knowledge accumulation and value formation for students.Infiltrating moral education into high school English reading teaching and exposing students to the positive mainstream ideas can make students’ cognition and emotion develop in an unconscious and imperceptible way,thus finally forming correct outlooks on life and values.Through questionnaire survey,teacher interview and classroom observation,this research intends to answer the following two questions:(1)What are the characteristics of moral education infiltration in high school English reading teaching in terms of contents and methods?(2)What are the problems of moral education infiltration in high school English reading teaching? How to improve the effectiveness of moral education infiltration in high school English reading teaching?Based on the data analysis,the following three conclusions can be drawn:(1)In terms of content,students show a strong desire for Chinese excellent traditional culture,but there is a certain deviation between teachers’ moral education practice and students’ actual moral needs;(2)In terms of methods,the three most commonly-used moral education methods in high school English reading teaching are respectively persuasion,model demonstration,and classroom discussion,but the important roles of communicative activities and real-life situations in moral education are neglected;(3)At present,there are four main problems in moral education infiltration: First,subject teaching is still examination-oriented.Second,there is a certain deviation between teachers’ moral education practice and students’ actual moral needs.Third,the moral education methods used by English teachers are very monotonous and traditional.Last,students’ overall satisfaction with moral education infiltration in English reading teaching is not high.In order to improve the current situation of moral education infiltration in high school English reading teaching,the author puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Improve the moral education awareness of English teachers;(2)Optimize teachers’ moral education methods;(3)Dig deeply into the moral education contents hidden in the textbooks;(4)Pay attention to the construction of learning environment. |
