English curriculum in the compulsory education stage has both instrumental and humanistic characteristics,English teaching and moral education are inseparable,both are important parts of school work,can integrate and penetrate each other.The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022)propose that teachers should take the implementation of moral cultivation as the fundamental task of English teaching,but compared with blunt preaching and moral indoctrination,the method of "infiltration" is more suitable for junior high school students,integrating moral education factors into the major thematic contexts of English courses,fully combining the characteristics of English subjects,and designing English education links and activities.This study fully understands the relevant research on the combination of English and moral education at home and abroad,and mainly uses action research method,questionnaire survey method and interview method to conduct two rounds of action research in real junior high school English classrooms in view of the actual situation of moral education in secondary schools,aiming to investigate the current teaching status of English moral education penetration in junior high schools,explore effective moral education penetration methods,and answer the following three research questions:(1)What is the current situation of moral education penetration in junior high school English teaching?(2)How to infiltrate moral education in junior high school English teaching?(3)How effective is the moral education penetration in junior high school English teaching?The first round of action research is a trial and exploration stage,exploring effective penetration strategies for mobility in various moral education penetration methods.The second round of action research is the reflection and improvement stage,summarize and reflect on the experience and shortcomings of the first round of action research,improve the way of moral education penetration,and obtain the results and discuss them.Through two rounds of action research,this study concludes that(1)the current situation of moral education penetration in junior high school English teaching is not good,and the overall manifestations are: first,the utilitarian tendency of English education is serious,and teachers and education departments lack awareness of moral education penetration;Second,junior high school students’ mentality is immature,their values are affected in many ways,and they need a comprehensive approach to moral education to educate people.(2)In the teaching of junior high school English,teachers can use the following teaching methods to infiltrate moral education: situational teaching method,emotional cultivation method,multiple character evaluation method,and hierarchical teaching method of moral education penetration.(3)The two rounds of action research created problem situations,stimulated students’ interest in learning,accumulated students’ moral emotions and promoted the generation of moral behavior,and obtained good teaching and education effects.In short,moral education is one of the intrinsic values of English subjects,English teachers should grasp the moral critical period of junior high school students,fully explore the factors of moral education,and use the above moral education penetration methods to carry out moral education penetration teaching design in combination with English subject teaching.
