Affected by the COVID-19,a large number of Confucius Institutes around the world began to implement online teaching, replacing face-to-face teaching between teachers and students with online teaching. This change in teaching method will have an impact on the interaction between teachers and students.Teacher student interaction plays an important role in the teaching process. The quality of interaction will not only affect students’ learning effect, but also affect students’ cognition and identity. Therefore, the status of teacher-student interaction in teaching research is very important. The research on online teaching in China started late, and the research on its application in the interaction between teachers and students in international Chinese education is less, which is worthy of further exploration.Based on Collins’ theory of "interactive ritual chain",combined with the improved Flanders interactive analysis system, this paper takes the interaction process between novice teachers and students in the Confucius Classroom of L University in Egypt as the research object, and uses participatory observation and interview to analyze the effects and influencing factors of online teacher-student interaction. The findings are as follows: 1.The influence of technical factors on the interaction between teachers and students in online teaching is enhanced;2 、 Students speak actively during online teaching, while novice teachers’ emotional feedback is not timely;3、 Students’ enthusiasm and dominance are enhanced in the process of online teaching and teacher-student interaction;4、 With the passage of online teaching time,a good interactive relationship between teachers and students has gradually formed. The factors that affect the interaction between teachers and students in online teaching are reflected in two aspects: Teachers’ willingness and behavior to interact are affected by emotional input, teaching willingness, self change, enthusiasm, network equipment, the number of teaching participants and interactive feedback;Students’ willingness to interact is influenced by emotional input,self-demand,network equipment, teachers’ and students’ interactive feedback and teachers’ teaching methods. Each influencing factor interacts with each other to form a relationship model of influencing factors.Based on the perspective of teacher-student interaction, this paper puts forward three suggestions from the three aspects of novice teachers, students and technology: novice teachers should receive systematic training before class, change their mentality, strengthen language interaction during class, adapt to internet teaching as soon as possible, and change the original offline teaching methods and teaching attitudes;Students should give full play to their initiative, occupy a leading position, give full play to their subjective initiative when teaching online, actively participate in interaction and put forward their own needs; At the technical level, each Confucius Institute should improve its hardware facilities, connect with the network, and provide good hardware support for students’ online teaching. These suggestions provide reference for future novice teachers’ online teaching, and also provide case support for teacher-student interaction in international Chinese online teaching.
