Weapons Of Thought: Research On The Publishing And Distribution Of Theme Books Of Resisting U.S. Aggression And Aid Korea(1951-1953)

In 1950,the war broke out in North Korean Peninsula and the United States immediately sent troops to interfere,and threatening the security of China.At the request of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,the CPC Central Committee decided to form the Chinese People’s Volunteers to support North Korea.On October26,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued an instruction on current affairs,pointed out that "in order to make all the people correctly understand the current situation,establish confidence,and eliminate the fear of the United States,the current affairs propaganda campaign should be launched across the country ".Book is considered an important way of publicity,in order to respond to calls,the national publishing department published a large number of theme books of resisting U.S.aggression and aid Korea to support the war.Theme books of resisting U.S.aggression and aid Korea,refers to the books on the theme of " resist US aggressors and aid Korea to defend the motherland ",including serial drawings,report literature,novel,theme publicity,poetry,history,and science.The seven types of classes are designed to promote the knowledge of the current situation,eliminating the fear of the United States,and realize patriotism education.This paper makes a comprehensive study of the publication and distribution of theme books of resisting U.S.aggression and aid Korea by using the methods of historical documents and case studies,and tries to present the inner relationship between the books and the war from the perspective of propaganda and mobilization,this paper explores how books served the nation in the specific context of the early founding ceremony of the People’s Republic of China,and how the state realized the process of propaganda,mobilization and ideological shaping of the people through books.The study found that,the core idea of theme books of resisting U.S.aggression and aid korea is that “propagating the justice and inevitability of anti-n and aid-korea”,“praising heroes,arousing the will to fight”,“answering current affairs,carrying out anti-bacteria and other popular science propaganda” This paper reveals the publication and distribution results of the books on the theme of resisting the United States and aiding the DPRK from the two aspects of the effectiveness of current affairs propaganda and the effectiveness of patriotic education,and holds that through the books on the theme of resisting the United States and aiding the DPRK,the whole people of the country are closely united around the party and the country,the consensus of “resisting the United States,assisting Korea,and defending our country” has been consolidated,and the front-line operations have been effectively coordinated,thus laying a solid foundation for the victory of the war,at the same time,it also points out that there are still factual errors and forced allocation problems in the publishing and distribution process.
