| Exhibitions are one of the most important ways to cultivate children’s creative abilities and artistic enlightenment, and the ideal exhibition space should fully take into account children’s nature of loving exploration and being good at discovery, providing a diverse platform for children to learn and play at the same time,so that they can accumulate knowledge through play and develop their abilities through interaction. However, the design concept of domestic exhibitions is still stuck in the traditional exhibition design, lacking child-friendly design for children. This poses new demands on the design of exhibition modes, how to guide children through an exhibition space where the target group is not only children, and how to design it to match their behavioural characteristics and adapt it to changes in educational approaches. This is why exhibitions with an educational dimension are so important. The object of this paper is a preliminary study of children’s playful modes of viewing,i.e.a preliminary study of the current modes of viewing in exhibitions. In the process of the study, the literature research method, the case study method and the inductive research method are used.Firstly, through extensive literature reading, collating and critically absorbing,we collect literature and cases on children’s group characteristics and spatial behavioural characteristics as well as exhibition viewing patterns, gamified exhibition viewing and so on,to provide a detailed and reliable basis for the writing. Then, through the analysis of typical cases,we will gain a clearer understanding of the characteristics of children as a group, analyse the relationship between "children","modes of exhibition viewing" and "gamification".The exhibition will also include an analysis of spatial examples. Finally, through a systematic and organised synthesis, the ways and means of constructing a playful exhibition model for children are summarised. The paper is divided into four main chapters. In the first chapter, the concept of ’playfulness’ and the forms of playfulness in exhibition space are used to define the playfulness model. In this section,it is made clear that the research is defined as a model of playfulness that guides children’s autonomous participation in the exhibition space through the construction of explorable modes of viewing.Rather than playfulness in the form of ’interacting with exhibits’.The second chapter explores the spatial cognitive processes and spatial experience processes of groups of children, and then analyses children’s viewing processes in exhibition spaces. The exploration in this chapter suggests that children’s curiosity can be aroused through the use of attractions before being guided to explore the exhibition on their own.Through the guidance of curiosity, children become interested in viewing the exhibition, mobilising their visual and tactile senses to actively participate and empathise with the exhibition, thus participating in the exploration of the exhibition.Secondly, children are guided by the task, through intellectual and rational mobilisation,to complete a series of challenges in the exhibition on their own, shaping their sense of achievement in viewing the exhibition. In the third chapter, based on the previous analysis of children’s playfulness and exhibition-viewing processes, the exhibition-viewing model is constructed from the perspective of fun-viewing,and children’s participation is guided through a series of guided tours, vicarious roles and exploratory tools that can stimulate children’s interest. In the fourth chapter, based on the analysis of children’s perceptual processes, the exhibition model is constructed from the perspective of shaping children’s sense of achievement, through learning sheets, punch cards and collaboration to inspire children’s thinking and participation. The playful model of exhibition viewing emphasises children’s independent exploration and hands-on work in the process of viewing the exhibition.Let children know and feel the world, acquire knowledge and skills in the exhibition, constantly stimulate children’s imagination and creativity through exploration, etc.,and cultivate children’s independent problem-solving skills to explore and summarise the playful exhibition-viewing model for children.China’s research in this area is far inferior to that of developed countries abroad, and there is still much room for upward mobility. Therefore,in this writing,we fully learn from the excellent overseas experience and continue to innovate and develop. At the same time,we are looking for the most suitable design methods according to our national conditions. Thus, children can explore and learn in a relaxed and enjoyable exhibition environment. |
