In the era of globalization,American contemporary art and global contemporary art are mutually isomorphic.It is the complexity of American contemporary art that attracts the attention of historians to artistic writing and aesthetic discourse.The Journal of October magazine explores the tension between radical art practice and mainstream ideology.The October who edited the magazine did much to explore the deep relationships that flourished in American art and culture during this period.Therefore,the study of their discourse perspective can more clearly analyze the interactive relationship between artistic writing and contemporary art.And as its inaugural issue made clear,October was founded not to perpetuate revolutionary myths or legends,but to re-examine the relationship between arts as it developed in culture.Its emergence thoroughly brings contemporary art criticism into the aesthetic innovation of the social process and makes a unique theoretical exploration of the emerging art practice.Their critical discourse continues to influence and even control the evolution of contemporary art criticism.This thesis,taking "anti-aesthetics" as the key clue,explores the negative logic of the evolution of western modern aesthetics under the background of studying the journal of October.To several American university professors who are working together on the journal: Rosalind Krauss,Benjamin H.D.Buchloh,Hal Foster,Yve-Alain Bois,David Joselit,John Douglas Crimp and Pamela M.Lee’s writing criticism as the foothold,based on the context of current art criticism,to return to the starting point of art,to re-study the writing of contemporary American art.The core of the discussion is to accurately restore and present the historical evolution,cultural and aesthetic evolution logic of American contemporary art theory on the basis of studying the writing discourse of October and combining with the new trend of contemporary art.Therefore,in addition to the introduction,the paper is mainly divided into four parts.The first chapter firstly combs the "Negative " of the critical discourse the Journal of October,combines " Negative " criticism with multi-dimensional media analysis,and clarifies the writing direction the Journal of October.The second chapter mainly explores the truth the Journal of October negative discourse and opens its critical and open writing system with truth.The third chapter discusses the negation of "reality" to abstraction,condenses the critical language of October with new discourse,and completes the transformation of artistic practice and critical discourse to life and field.Finally in the fourth chapter returns to the "anti-aesthetics" topic of October’s writing,in order to clear the Journal in the modern value of writing and more possibilities,and the globalization is to discuss the important fulcrum of writing of contemporary art and platform,therefore,in the western modern and contemporary art criticism logic,with all kinds of culture of convergence as a breakthrough point,Seeking for new knowledge paradigm and aesthetic interpretation model.It tries to break the limitation of a certain cultural concept,to complete the re-identification and construction of aesthetic discourse in accordance with the logic of artistic theory in a broader vision and cultural universality.The investigation of American contemporary art criticism should emphasize and focus on the interactive relationship between writing and contemporary art creation.This renewal comes in the form of art and literary criticism with insights from fields ranging from philosophy to sociology,structural linguistics,and anthropology to psychoanalysis.October is operating in the critical discourse of critics under the surge of these foreign frontier ideas.Negative art criticism does not simply negate existing and previous theories,but provides a more reasonable explanation of the current artistic phenomenon with cross-boundary discourse and a broader vision,and provides multiple thoughts to the public.Art criticism itself has strong interdisciplinary relevance,and at the same time,interdisciplinary offers opportunities for increasingly esoteric languages.In examining the interactive relationship between art criticism in October and American art practice,this paper explores the relationship between negativity,turning and sutures of the order of critical discourse in October,clarifies the changes of art criticism and explores the discourse system of October.
