With the acceleration of globalization,cultural exchanges between different countries had become more frequent,and education books had been gradually introduced into China.The translated text Creativity in Education and Learning: A Guide for Teachers and educators is just an education book.Trying to translate the book can not only make Chinese people understand foreign educational ideas,but also take its essence and absorb foreign advanced teaching experience to promote the development of domestic education,improve the educational level of our country,and train more outstanding talents for our country.Skopos Theory of translation was first proposed by Hans Vermeer in The Theoretical Basis of Universal Translation.The author believed that translation was a cross-cultural human communication activity based on the source language version with a clear purpose and intention under the influence of the translator.The theory emphasized that translators should fully play their subjective initiative and be loyal to the original intention in the process of translation.The Skopos Theory has three principles,which are the skopos rule,the coherence rule,and the fidelity rule.This report was based on the translation practice of chapters V and VI of Creativity in Education and Learning: A Guide for Teachers and Educators by Arthur Cropley J.The Skopos Theory was chosen as the guiding theory to analyze the translation through three rules of Skopos Theory.The report analyzed the functions of free translation,annotation,and speech conversion from the perspective of skopos rule,analyzed the functions of reverse translation,restructuring,domestication,and omission from the perspective of coherence rule,and analyzed the functions of literal translation,transliteration,reference translation and foreignization translation from the perspective of fidelity rule,and also attempted to solve the problems encountered in the process of translation through the skopos rule,the coherence rule,and fidelity rule,so as to explore the effective translation methods of education books.The result showed that Skopos Theory played a strong guiding role in the translation of education texts,which can improve the readability of translation and effectively achieve the translation purpose of transmitting information,but it also had some limitations which needed to be improved. |
