With the gradual expansion of the influence of Chinese herbal medicine in the world, the curative effect brought by traditional Chinese medicine has been paid attention to and recognized by more and more people abroad.Chinese herbal medicine culture has gradually spread to all parts of the world. In order to further promote Chinese herbal medicine culture,it is particularly important to study the translation of Chinese herbal medicine. The source text of this practice report comes from the last five chapters of the book Medical Herbs in Yunnan. From the structural point of view, the source text is concise and comprehensive, mostly short sentences. In terms of content,it has the characteristics of abstraction and culture, including a large number of Chinese herbal medicine terms, and culturally loaded words. This translation practice report is based on the skopos theory proposed by Hans Vermeer, and takes the Chinese-English practice process of the last five chapters of the selected materials as an example, some methods used are explained from vocabulary, syntax and text, respectively. At the lexical level, following the skopos rule and the fidelity rule, the translator adopts transliteration, paraphrasing, and foot notes for culturally loaded words and Chinese herbal medicine terms,so as to enable the target readers to understand and spread Chinese culture. In terms of syntax, the translator follows the skopos rule and adopts the free translation and amplification for classical Chinese and short sentences,so that the translation can be accepted by the target readers. At the discourse level, the translator analyzes the cohesion and coherence modes of specific examples by adding connectives and adjusting the order of the translation,at the same time following the coherence rule to achieve the purpose of making the translation conform to the behavioral habits of target readers. Finally, the translator summarizes the limitations and gains of this translation process.Through this translation practice,in the process of translating Chinese herbal medicine, the translator not only understands and learns the relevant terms and knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine, but also improves the problem-solving and translation ability. The source text contains a large number of Chinese cultural elements. While translating the source text, the translator spreads the Chinese herbal medicine culture and provides references for scholars who study Chinese herbal medicine.Promoting Chinese herbal medicine internationally is of great significance to the spread of Chinese herbal medicine culture in the future.
