Against the background of the global outbreak of COVID-19,online teaching has opened up a new prospect for the smooth development of international Chinese education with its remarkable strengths(such as convenience, low cost and the ability of breaking the limitations of time and space,etc.).However,the underlying problems of this new teaching method has gradually been revealed after more than two semesters of implementation. Therefore, this paper looks into the effect of online teaching by investigating Chinese learners’ classroom adaptation under the background of online teaching.Based on the analysis of the questionnaire data and the further interviews, this study proposes the coping strategies from four aspects,so as to help promote the positive interaction between "teaching" and "learning" in online Chinese class, promoting the transformation and upgrading of online Chinese class. It is expected that the modern online Chinese class could be constructed to better adapt to the overseas student and serve the needs of the new era.Based on the teaching practice of international Chinese education, this paper surveys the overseas students and front-line teachers who have participated in online Chinese classes from 7 universities in Guangxi. This study was carried out from an empirical perspective. The questionnaire adopted in this research "A survey on adaptation of Chinese classroom for international students against the background of online teaching" was complied on the basis of extensive reading of literature, reference of existing studies and mature scales as well as in-depth interviews. In order to find out overseas students’ differences in each adaptability dimension,SPSS was used to conduct a detailed analysis on the collected questionnaire data. The findings are presented as follows:1.International students in Guangxi mainly come from the partner countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt(95.2%).And the largest number are from Southeast Asian countries(64.3%).Against the background of online teaching in Guangxi, the overall class adaptation level of Chinese learners is upper-middle level. The data show that general adaptation accounts for 65%,better adaptation accounts for 23.8%,and good adaptation accounts for 4%.2.Against the background of online teaching in Guangxi, the class adaptation of Chinese learners is mainly affected by the learning environment, learners, educators, and social support. The differences in the adaptation of international students in the four aspects are as follows: international students have the best adaptation in the learning environment, followed by learners, social support, and the least in educators.3.Against the background of online teaching in Guangxi, the class adaptation of Chinese learners is affected by age, country, academic qualifications, length of learning Chinese, work, and other characteristics.According to relevant conclusions, this paper analyzes the characteristics and existing problems of Chinese classes for international students in Guangxi against the background of online teaching. And by combining advanced network technology, theory, and previous research,it explores coping and improving strategies from four aspects: learning environment, learners, educators, and social support. |
