"Talents are the assist of virtues,virtues are the commander of talents." Virtue and talent are the ideology of our country in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the criteria for cultivating talents in the new era,with "virtue" being an indispensable factor in considering the quality of talents.The introduction of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)emphasises that English subject education should not only teach students the knowledge and skills of the language,but also cultivate students’ humanistic qualities,so that they can become a whole person with both virtue and talent.Primary school English teachers must make good use of English teaching as the most direct and effective moral education channel to students,using ingenuity to integrate moral education content into English teaching,moral education throughout the teaching,so that students can ride the "ark of morality" to wander in the ocean of knowledge.This study uses text analysis,questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations to investigate the infiltration of moral education in primary school English classroom teaching.It finds out that the current primary school English teaching materials contain rich moral education content,and the teachers set emotional goals as the guide and content of moral education in their pre-course English teaching designs.It also gets to such a conclusion that at present,there is a positive trend in the infiltration of moral education in primary school English teaching.However,there are still some problems that need to be solved in order to better promote the goal of "whole-person,whole-process,all-round education",which are summarised as follows:(a)primary English teachers have a shallow awareness of the practice of moral education infiltration;(b)primary English teachers do not dig enough into the moral education content of teaching materials;(c)there is insufficient training for primary English teachers on moral education infiltration.This paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for both teachers and schools on the problems presented by moral education infiltration in primary English teaching.For teachers:(a)raise their awareness of the practice of moral education infiltration in teaching;(b)conduct in-depth discussions on the content of teaching materials and teaching methods;(c)uphold the teaching by example and embellish the teaching.For schools:(a)focus on moral education training and seminars for teachers;(b)improve the moral education system and evaluation indicators for the subject.This thesis hopes to enrich theories related to English classroom teaching in primary schools,and provide an opportunity to promote the further development of the moral education infiltration system in primary English.
