Research On Zhu Heling's "Shangshu Bi Zhuan

Zhu Heling,one of the most celebrated Confucianist in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,who actives in Wuzhong District.After the Ming dynasty was perished by Qing dynasty,what Zhu Heling chose to do is determined to give up participating in the imperial examination.Zhu Heling works hard with the goal of doing studies and hopes can be known by this way,so he retired from public life after Qing Dynasty setting up.Shangshu Pizhuan is Zhu Heling’s representative work of Shangshu,has seventeen chapters in total,looks for laws from history and citing the academic viewpoints of many scholars,sorts out academic achievements of Shangshu.Zhu Heling uses finding the truth in history approach with additional explanation of Shangshu to correct the mistakes of Cai Chen and various scholars and expresses his own opinions.From the content and thought in Shangshu Pizhuan we can further clarify the development tendency of the study of Shangshu in the early Qing Dynasty to attach importance to exegesis and truth.Zhu Heling’s writing of Shangshu Pizhuan is influenced by Gu Yanwu and the academic atmosphere of attaching importance to truth in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties,focus on the study of the content of Shangshu and the role of research.The content of Shangshu Pizhuan includes textual research on famous objects,system identification,geographical survey and correction and many other related research contents of Shangshu.In terms of textual research on famous objects,Shangshu Pizhuan respects ancient commentaries,and at the same time integrates multi-party research to prove scriptures,sorts out the academic origins,and clarifies the reasons for some corruption.In terms of system examination and identification,Shangshu Pizhuan adheres to the attitude of seeking truth from facts,examines and compares the similarities and differences of relevant textual research,and takes into account the analysis of the inheritance,change and corresponding influence of the system in later generations.In terms of geographical correction,Shangshu Pizhuan corrects the research results of the past dynasties,and analyzes the relevant livelihood issues such as river affairs,water transportation,water conservancy and so on.Shangshu Pizhuan pays attention to the content of Shangshu itself,especially the exegesis of words and the identification of names and objects.In terms of the interpretation of the scriptures,it also inherits the strengths of the Song and Ming Confucianism,and combines the two in order to achieve the goal of notifying and applying ancient classics.The features of Shangshu Pizhuan includes learning from both Song-studies and Han-studies,citing various authorities,researching of various methods,attaining practical use by gaining experience from history.Among them,Shangshu Pizhuan focuses on the interpretation concept of the exegesis of the classics,which is the pioneer of the textual research style in the middle and late Qing Dynasty.The large number of documents excerpted from the book also have positive significance for the preservation and inheritance of textual research and interpretation documents of Shangshu.Combining classics with history,the concept of interpreting the classics and applying them clearly reflects the characteristics of the times in the development of Shangshu studies.The academic value of Shangshu Pizhuan lies in correcting and supplementing some of the omissions in Cai Shen’s Shu Ji Zhuan by examining the ancients and seeking truth,and citing circumstantial evidence,and basically being able to identify the gains and losses of related textual research in Shangshu in a practical manner.In addition,the examination and identification of the contents of the Shangshu in Shangshu Pizhuan also reflects the study style orientation of Shangshu in the early Qing Dynasty,reflecting on Song-studies,avoiding empty sparseness,and seeking truth from facts.The geographical research and interpretation related to Yu Gong in the book also has a certain significance for the subsequent work of geographical documentation.Although there are some omissions in the research and interpretation of Shangshu Pizhuan,such as the analysis of "Sanjiang" and the miss of doubting classic of documents in ancient scripts,its important position in the history of the study of Shangshu in Ming and Qing Dynastiesit is still a masterpiece.
