By the end of 2017,the elderly population over 60 years old in Chengdu was 3.0398 million, accounting for 21.18% of the total registered population.Close to the depth of aging, the aging of the population shows a serious situation. The mental health level of the elderly and how to choose the way of providing for the aged are not only personal and family problems, but also have become a hot issue of common concern in society. This paper focuses on the rural areas.Because of the specific social and cultural conditions, the aging degree in rural areas is deeper than that in urban areas.Mental health is more worthy of attention, and the research on the way of providing for the aged is more urgent.Domestic research on the mental health and pension mode of the elderly is mainly concentrated in the cities, but the research on the rural elderly is very little.By combining quantitative analysis with qualitative research, this paper compares the mental health level of rural elderly in different ways of providing for the aged, and analyses the factors that influence the mental health level of rural elderly in different ways of providing for the aged. This study consists of three parts: the first part is a study of 340 elderly people over 60 years old in Chongzhou City by convenient sampling method, including 175 males and 165 females,to revise the mental health questionnaire of the elderly to meet the particularity of the rural elderly group;the second part is a study of 300 elderly people over 60 years old in Chongzhou City by convenient sampling method. As the research object,155 males,145 females,148 home-based elderly people and152 elderly people living in pension institutions were selected. The mental health level of rural elderly people under different pension modes was compared by using the revised questionnaire of elderly mental health. In the third study,8 elderly people in home-based pension, nursing homes and nursing homes were selected, and a total of 14 elderly people were selected as the research objects.Interviews were conducted to analyze the factors influencing the mental health level of the rural elderly in different ways of providing for the agedThe results show that:(1)The mental health level, interpersonal communication ability and cognitive level of the rural elderly aged at home are significantly higher than those of the rural elderly aged at institutions. The mental health level, interpersonal communication level, cognitive level and adaptability of rural elderly living in nursing homes are significantly higher than those of rural elderly living in nursing homes.(2)Demographic variables such as gender, education level, marital status, living style and self-care level all affect the mental health level of the rural elderly.(3)here are several reasons why the mental health level of the rural elderly under the mode of home-based pension is higher than that of the rural elderly in institutions for the aged: the difference of emotional experience;the difference of labor participation;the low acceptance of pension institutions in rural areas.(4)The reasons why the mental health level of the elderly living in the nursing home is higher than that of the elderly living in the nursing home are as follows: the environment difference of the nursing institution;the management system of the nursing institution;the service difference of the nursing institution;and the motive of the living in the nursing institution.
