Purpose:To compare the clinical efficacy of the two therapies in the treatment of the neck type of cervical spondylosis by observing the improvement of “Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture" and conventional acupuncture therapy on cervical pain, cervical function, cervical range of motion. In order to explore a more effective and feasible treatment method and provide foundation for clinical treatment of the neck type of cervical spondylosis.Material and method:This study selected 60 patients with the neck type of cervical spondylosis who met the inclusion criteria in the outpatient department of the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine after explaining the research purpose to the patients and obtaining the consent of the patients. The patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 30 cases in each group.Patients in the observation group were given "Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture",and those in the control group were given routine acupuncture therapy with conventional acupoint selection. Both groups received one course of treatment. The visual analogue score(VAS),the Northwick Park neck pain questionnaire(NPQ)score and cervical range of motion(CROM) before treatment, after the first treatment and after the end of the course of treatment were analyzed and compared, and the data were analyzed by SPSS25.0 statistical software Statistical analysis was conducted to evaluate the difference in efficacy between the two groups, and to discuss the safety and desirability of this study in combination with medical theory.Results:1.There was no significant difference between the two groups on baseline data and the VAS,modified NPQ score,CROM before treatment(P>0.05),which means they were comparable.2.The VAS,modified NPQ score and CROM of the two groups of patients after the first treatment and after the end of the course of treatment were all improved compared with those before treatment, with statistical significance(P<0.01).3.After the first treatment and after the end of the course of treatment, the VAS,modified NPQ score,CROM,overall effective rate and markedly cured rate of the observation group were all better than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.There was no significant difference in the VAS of the observation group after the first treatment and the VAS of the control group after the end of the course of treatment(P>0.05),suggesting that "Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture" has a significant immediate pain relief effect.Conclusions:1.Both conventional acupuncture therapy and "Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture" can improve cervical pain, cervical function and cervical range of motion in patients with the neck type of cervical spondylosis.2.The overall efficacy of "Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture" in the treatment of the neck type of cervical spondylosis is better than that of conventional acupuncture, and it has a significant immediate pain relief effect.3."Meridian Balance Movement Acupuncture" has significant curative effect, quick onset, less acupoints and high safety, which is easily accepted by patients. So this treatment approach is worthy of further clinical promotion.
