A Study On Chinese Forest Proverbs

Proverbs contains rich cultural connotations and is an extremely important language form to record culture.As one of the important members of proverb system,tree proverbs carry rich cultural information,which can not only glimpse the specific performance characteristics and cultural patterns of Chinese culture,but also effectively reveal the thinking mode and cognitive psychology of Chinese people.Firstly,the semantic content of forest proverbs is mainly reflected in four aspects:the function of trees,afforestation,forest management and protection,and the relationship between humans and forests,reflecting people’s practice of the idea of using forests for forest protection and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.Secondly,forest proverbs have the characteristics of making good use of cultural words,commonly used numerals,skillful use of synonyms,and antonyms in the use and selection of vocabulary.In terms of sentence structure,they generally present the characteristics of complex sentence structure,followed by single sentence,and a large number of condensed structures.At the same time,forest proverbs reflect the metaphorical thinking mode of the Han ethnic group,and trees are endowed with rich metaphorical and cultural meanings in proverbs.By exploring the metaphorical meanings of forest proverbs,we can deepen our understanding of the cultural connotations of forest proverbs.The forest proverbs also contain rich spiritual and cultural connotations,not only reflecting the "harmony between heaven and man" thinking mode of the Han ethnic group,but also reflecting the values of protecting the environment,valuing education,and valuing benevolence and righteousness,containing rich ethnic cultural connotations.
