In recent years, new energy vehicles has gained a place in the automotive industry.Countries around the world have increasingly attached importance to the sustainable development of new energy vehicles, continuously developing new technologies to optimize the comprehensive performance of new energy vehicles.Electric and hybrid vehicles have further developed due to the incorporation of artificial intelligence(AI),which brings users a brand new experience and makes more contributions to sustainable development. The deep interaction between AI and new energy vehicles has gradually become a research focus in the field of automotive technology. Therefore, translating scientific and technical texts related to this area can provide reference for China’s application of AI in the field of new energy vehicles. The material of this translation practice selected from Chapters 2 and 3 of Artificial Intelligent Techniques for Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles. These chapters mainly illustrate how AI is used in electric vehicle efficiency upgrading, such as the application in BLDC and magnetic bearing, which has crucial significance for the upgrade of new energy vehicles. Therefore, this material belongs to scientific and technological text.In terms of language,it has the characteristics of strong logic, high professionalism, and many long and difficult sentences, and is also equipped with charts, formulas, and pictures.According to Reiss’ s text typology theory, this text is informative and should be translated with emphasis on language accuracy, conciseness, and readability. It should use concise and clear language to accurately convey the original information and make the translation conform to the expression habits of the target language. Therefore, under the guidance of this theory, the translator solved the translation of abbreviations and polysemy at the lexical level by using literal translation and annotation methods. At the sentence level, translation methods such as conversion and amplification are used to translate passive sentences and long difficult sentences. At the textual level, the translator used the methods of inversion and division to achieve a smooth text with logical structure. The report includes five parts: The first part introduces the translation project, including the background and significance of the translation task as well as the structure of the report. The second part describes the process of the translation practice from three aspects: pre-translation to analyze the source text, read relevant articles, make plan and establish term lists. For while-translation,the translator illustrate the mainly process, the difficulties and solutions. The post translation focuses on the revision to the target text. The third part is a review of translation theory, mainly introducing Reiss’ s text typology theory and its application in translation practice. The fourth part is case study guided by Reiss’ s informative text theory, and discussed from three aspects.First, translation of abbreviations and polysemy explored from the lexical level;Second, from a syntactic perspective, translation of passive sentences and long difficult sentences is discussed. Finally,it deals with cohesion and coherence at the textual level. The fifth part summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of this translation practice, and proposes suggestions for further improvement.
