A Report On C-E Translation Of Ethnic Folklore Tourism In Western China (Chapter 3 Section 1:Protection Of Folklore Tourism Resources)

Tourism is an important channel for strengthening foreign exchanges and cooperation and enhancing the cultural soft power of a country.In recent years,the tourism industry in China has grown rapidly,the number of tourism activities featuring the folklore of ethnic minorities in the west of the country is increasing,and folklore tourism has also become a major trend in the current development of tourism worldwide.The importance of folklore tourism resources as the basis for the sustainable development of folklore tourism cannot be overstated.Protecting folklore tourism resources is the only way to promote the sustainable development of folklore tourism.The translator selects the first section,protection of folklore tourism resources,of the third chapter of the Western Ethnic Folklore Tourism as the source text for the translation practice report,and the translator completes the translation practice under the guidance of Skopos theory proposed by Hans Vermeer,aiming to introduce the importance of folklore tourism resource protection while analyzing and clarifying feasible ways and measures of folklore tourism resource protection,and hoping to promote the prosperous development of folklore tourism in western China.The translation practice report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,respectively introduces the research background and significance of the study of this tourismrelated translation task.In the second chapter,the translator first analyzes the characteristics of the source text from three aspects: lexis,syntax,and text,finds the source text,as a textbook related to tourism,to be a typical informative text,and then introduces the requirements of the entrusting party for the translation task.Chapter three shows the translation process of the source text from three aspects: pre-translation,mid-translation,and post-translation.After reviewing background knowledge related to tourism protection,the translator selects suitable translation tools,resources,and a parallel text,meanwhile,the translator adopts different translation methods under the guidance of the Skopos theory,and then a translation plan is formulated and a list of terms related to tourism culture and traditional Chinese folklore culture is made.Mid-translation is divided into two parts: quality control and process description of the translation.After the translation,the translator controls the quality of the translation through self,peer,and tutor evaluation.Chapter four is case analysis,in which the translator analyses the source text under the guidance of the skopos rule,the coherence rule,and the fidelity rule of the Skopos theory,and applies several translation methods to solve the problems encountered in the translation process.Chapter five is the conclusion,in which the translator reflects on the practice report of translating tourism text and summarizes the gains and confusions.Through the translation practice report,the translator discovers that the skopos rule can be used as guidance when the purpose of the translated text is not consistent with the purpose of the source text to achieve the translation purpose of the translator.The translator expects that this translation practice report can provide corresponding references for the translation of folklore tourism protection texts.
