A Case Analysis Of Xi Jinping

with the deepening of globalization,exchanges between countries are becoming increasingly frequent.Since the reform and opening up,China has comprehensively improved its strength in economy,politics,culture and technology,etc.By continuously expanding exchanges with other countries and enhancing the influence through exchanges,China has gradually moved towards the center of the world stage.Therefore,in order to better demonstrate the image of China to the rest of world,the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee(Information Office of the State Council)published the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China in S eptember 2014,which includes a series of keynote speeches of Xi Jinping,General S ecretary of the C entral Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC)and answers a series of significant questions about the development of CPC and China in the new era.In addition,the book has been translated into a number of languages such as English,Russian,French,German,Japanese,Thai,Vietnamese,and Burmese,which is of great significance for the study of external publicity translation.With the Chinese and Burmese versions of the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China as the research subject,this paper collected a large number of vocabulary with Chinese characteristics,and classified them into three categories based on language characteristics and covered fields:political,diplomatic,and cultural categories.During the collection and analysis of materials and data,the author found that the Burmese version of the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China used more literal and free translation methods,which better conveyed the artistic conception of the original text Indeed,translation of the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China is different from literary translation and other types of translation,which can be rewritten or re-created by translators through creative treason The translation of the book Xi Jinping:The Governance of China is mainly faithful to the original text and contains the rigorous,political,and logical expression of the translation.Especially,the rich and colorful vocabulary with Chinese characteristics has condensed the collective wisdom of the CPC.Since the 18th CPC National Congress,the Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core has proposed a series of original new concepts,ideas,and strategies for the governance of China,providing readers with authoritative and comprehensive external publicity texts.Therefore,this paper adopts the political principles,accuracy principles,and acceptability principles of external publicity translation as guidance,and combines three translation methods:literal translation,free translation,and addition and omission in translation to carry out the research.
