Since China’s reform and opening-up,China has made remarkable achievements in economic,political,cultural and other fields and frequent communication and cooperation with foreign countries.The world is expecting to know more about the rising China.XI JINPING: The Governance of China is one of the most representative Chinese political works.This book has answered a series of important theoretical and practical questions about the Party and the country in these changing times,embodying the philosophy of the new central leadership.Therefore,its translation is of great importance to the understanding of China.Up to now,many scholars and researchers have made many studies on the translation of XI JINPING: The Governance of China.But no researches have been made from the perspective of thick translation.This thesis investigates the application of thick translation in this book and raises two questions.One is How translators apply thick translation in the rendering of XI JINPING: The Governance of China and the other is the significance of thick translation and if it is an effective way to the translation and dissemination of political texts to the world.This Thesis adopts descriptive translation studies and case study as the main methodology and discusses thick translation at the form level and at the content level.Also,the reasons for thick translation are explored.In the end,it can be concluded that thick translation is an effective way to the translation and dissemination of Chinese political texts to the world.
