A Report On E-C Translation Of Sustainability In Denim (Chapter 1)

Denim is very popular among people,but its production operation has a significant environmental impact.However,there are few reports of translation practice involving denim fabrics.Therefore,Sustainability in Denim has been chosen as the translation text for this report,and the first chapter of the book introduces the basic knowledge of denim,including its origin,types and manufacturing processes.This report combines machine translation and post-editing.The source text is from the book Sustainability in Denim,which includes comprehensive introduction to denim.A large number of frequently-used terms make this text suitable for translation in machine translation and post-editing(Hereinafter abbreviated as MTPE)mode.Initially,the translator attempted to translate with the aid of multiple translation engines before settling on Deep L to pre-translate the source text,which was then imported into the memo Q translation tool for post-editing and proofreading of the machine translation output.On the basis of this translation practice and relevant domestic and international research on MTPE,the machine translation errors in this practice can be classified as lexical level,including under-translation,mistranslation of terminology,wrong choice of word meaning,syntactic level,mistranlation of passive voice,mistranslation of collocations and improper word order,and textual level,redundancy and confusion of logic.Under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology,post-editing is performed to produce a higher quality translation by analyzing the examples of machine translation errors encountered in this translation practice,based on the combination of semantic and communicative translation to achieve better translation and improve the...
