| With the development of artificial intelligence and information technology,continuous improvement has been made in the machine translation technology and computer-aided translation platforms.Although machine translation boasts the merits of low cost and high efficiency,its quality still cannot meet requirements of the customer.However,post-editing effectively makes up for the limitations of machine translation.Consequently,the mode of machine translation and post-editing has gradually become a new trend in the practice of the language service industry.This report is based on the translation of the first two chapters of EV Website under the mode of machine translation plus post-editing.The source text belongs to an informative one,and it is characterized by frequent and repeated use of terminologies.Therefore,it is suitable to be dealt with by the method of machine translation plus post-editing on an computer-aided translation platform.In this practice,the translator chooses Google Translate,the built-in machine translation engine of Yi CAT,to pre-translate the source text.Under the guidance of translation principles for the technical text,the post-editing work for the target text generated by Google Translate is carried out.Combining with the previous studies of domestic and foreign scholars,the translator summarizes the typical error types of machine translation in this translation practice.Meanwhile,the translator classifies the identified machine translation errors at lexical,syntactic and discourse level.Finally,based on analysis of samples produced by machine translation,the translator proposes appropriate post-editing techniques,including context analysis,part of speech conversion,semantic interpretation,vague concepts substitution,semantic conversion,structural adjustment,adding subject,semantic supplement,logical improvement,concise translation,etc.With the summary and analysis of this translation practice,the translator expects to strengthen her post-editing competence,provides some reference for other researchers in this direction,and meanwhile contributes to the development of downhole visual analytics in China. |
