With the widespread use of network technology, malicious network attacks and user privacy data leakage incidents occur frequently, which poses a great threat to the security of enterprise information and data.As a result, there is an increased demand for books that provide business-related cybersecurity knowledge. The translation practice report focuses on the E-C translation of Big Breaches: Cybersecurity Lessons for Everyone. The translator is the first one to translate it.The book offers some useful tips on preventing cyber attacks to help people and enterprises protect their information security. The translator chooses the thirteenth chapter of the book for English-Chinese translation practice, which focuses on the root causes of data leakage in enterprises and technical solutions to address them. The source content employs an extensive amount of specialized terminology and abbreviations specific to cybersecurity, and its sentences tend to be prolonged, intricate, and composed in the passive voice. The translation practice report, which is based on Professor Li Changshuan’s “Comprehension,Expression, and Adaptation” framework, aims to address these challenges.Firstly, from the perspective of Comprehension,it involves acquiring basic professional knowledge by reading cybersecurity papers and books to understand specialized terminology and the context in which it is used.Secondly, from the perspective of Expression, the focus is on both word and sentence-level expression. On the word level, the translation adjusts the parts of speech where necessary to suit Chinese expression habits. On the sentence level, passive sentences and long sentences with attributive clauses are common,so the original sentence is first broken down and then reorganized into the translation to avoid Europeanized Chinese and ensure logical coherence in the translation.Thirdly, from the perspective of Adaptation, the translation is adjusted by appropriately using methods such as amplification, omission or annotations to ensure accurate information. Finally, the report concludes with a summary of this translation practice. This translator discovered that scientific and technological texts contain a plethora of specialized words and sentences. The translator needs to have a certain level of professional background knowledge and utilize various translation tools and techniques in order to achieve the desired translation outcome. This report on translation practice provides a summary of the challenges and solutions during the translation process. When the report is done,it is hoped that it can be used as a guide for translating the same kind of text in the future.
