A Report On Simultaneous Interpreting With Text-Based On The Mock Conference Themed “Employment Situation Of University Graduates In Recent Years”

This report is based on a mock international conference themed ―Employment Situation of University Graduates in Recent Years‖,for which the author was the simultaneous interpreter.The mock international conference was jointly organized by the three majors of English,Japanese and Korean of the College of Foreign Studies of Guangxi Normal University,and the participants spoke in Chinese,English,Japanese and Korean,with Chinese as the pivotal language,of which the author was responsible for the English-Chinese and Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation.This report has made a complete presentation of the detailed process of this interpretation practice,covering pre-interpretation preparation,while-interpretation,and reflective evaluation,where pre-interpretation preparation includes speaker information,glossary,text preparation,etc.This report has discussed the use of machine translation aided interpreting and the problems that were found in interpreting in the form of case studies,and shared the interpreting strategies and coping strategies that were adopted.The application of machine translation in interpreting has gradually become more accepted in recent years.It has obvious advantages in number translation,a difficult area of interpreting,but still leaves much to be desired in the handling of content such as multiple meaning words and culture-loaded words.In the report,the author has selected typical cases to analyze the deficiencies in this interpretation,such as lack of fluency,misinterpretation and missing of information,and has shared the interpreting strategies adopted and coping strategies,such as generalization,simplification,and paraphrasing.Through the reflective summary of the interpretation,she hopes to provide some experiences and information for the research and practice of simultaneous interpretation,especially the research and practice of machine-aided simultaneous interpretation.
