| Talented individuals are an indispensable resource for promoting national prosperity and strength.The foundation of a powerful country needs to be laid by talents,and talents help to build a powerful country.In this context,nurturing new generations capable of undertaking the great mission of national rejuvenation has become a new challenge for the times.By examining the historical background of Xunzi’s life,this paper probes into the formation of Xunzi’s thought of cultivating talents,analyzes its basic content and target orientation,which can provide ideological resources and theoretical support from Chinese excellent traditional culture for cultivating top talents in politics,economy,military,diplomacy,ecology and other fields.It is of great significance for promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent Chinese traditional culture.Studying Xunzi’s thoughts on talent cultivation is a prerequisite for research.The late Warring States period when Xunzi lived,was an era of great social development and transformation.To survive in the fierce wars of this time and achieve the goal of a prosperous and strong nation,rulers actively recruited talented people and sought to reform their states.The turbulent and changing social environment provided external conditions for the rulers to attach importance to talent cultivation.Xunzi,who was elected president three times,was the oldest and most experienced master with original consciousness and critical spirit.In Cheng Xiang,he expressed his sorrow for the darkness of the society and expressed his loyalty to the monarch and patriotism through the theme of poetry.Rich personal experience and his personal characteristics of worrying about the country and the people became the subjective condition for the formation of his talent cultivation thought.His thoughts on talent cultivation were also influenced by the educational ideas of Confucianism,especially Confucius and Mencius,the "valuing talent" concept of Mohism,and the "rule of law" education concept of Legalism.Xunzi’s thoughts on talent cultivation were comprehensive,covering the training of talents in politics,economy,military,diplomacy,and ecology:talents in the political field should be enlightened,talents in the economic field should follow the principles of benevolence and morality,talents in the military field should worship rites and love the people,talents in the diplomatic field should use both the king and the ruler,and people with ecological consciousness should follow the principles of heaven.He aimed to build a harmonious,stable,and vibrant society by cultivating talents in various fields,ultimately serving the practice of national prosperity and strength.Xunzi deeply considered how to achieve national strength,starting with the premise that human nature is evil.Xunzi combined moral idealism and political realism,enriching the Confucian concept of inner and outer kingship.His talent cultivation ideas,centered on national prosperity and strength,were characterized by strong humanistic,practical,and political features,enriching the pre-Qin Confucian educational thought system and responding to the development of the times and social progress.Xunzi’s thoughts on talent cultivation were clearly oriented towards reality,rich in connotation,and far-reaching in influence.However,due to the limitations of the productive forces and cognitive abilities at that time,we must objectively reflect on and critically inherit his ideas.Exploring Xunzi’s talent cultivation resources can provide important references for talent cultivation in various fields today.On a personal level,the new generation should possess good character traits such as observing rituals,putting morality before profit,integrating knowledge and action,and being both virtuous and talented.On a social level,efforts should be made to cultivate necessary qualities such as respecting morality and law,serving the people,protecting the country,and fostering harmony between humans and nature.On a national level,professional talents in politics,economy,military,diplomacy,and ecology should be cultivated to contribute to the practice of building a great modern socialist country. |
