Classroom Teacher-student Interaction Research In On-line Chinese One-to-one Session

Classroom interaction is a very important part of classroom teaching and it is essential for teachers to achieve instructional goals and for students to improve their language skills.Therefore,the study of teacher-student interaction behavior in classroom can help teacher improve classroom teaching and student develop language ability.Based on this problem,this paper takes some classrooms of on-line Chinese one-to-one session in University of Hawaii,and analyze the interactive behavior characteristics and influencing factors by iFIAS and interview,and provides feasible suggestions for teachers to refine interaction strategies.This paper is divided into the following five parts:The study found that there were several existing problem:(1)Novice teachers had a one-sided understanding of classroom interaction,and simply equated "rich practice questions" with "good interaction";(2)Teachers had less feedback on students’ speech behavior and the form is single;(3)Teachers’ questions were mainly closed questions which lack of extensibility,and students lacked motivation to interact;(4)Teachers lacked the ability to apply information technology,resulting in "chaos that does not contribute to teaching",affecting the quality and effect of teacher-student interaction;(5)The classroom of Chinese and non-Chinese students had obvious differences in teacher-student interaction.In view of the problems found in the above research,this paper finally puts forward the following teaching suggestions:(1)Do a good job in lesson preparation and enrich teaching design;(2)Improve teachers’ language and questioning skills;(3)Do a good job of reflection after class;(4)Improve information technology literacy.The innovation points of this paper are mainly reflected in the adjustment of research tools and the exploration of research objects:First,this study adjusts the coding of iFIAS to make it more suitable for the characteristics of on-line Chinese one-to-one session;The second is to discover the differences in classroom interaction between Chinese and non-Chinese classes,and enrich the content of student factors in the influencing factors of classroom interaction.It should be noted that due to the limitations of time,energy,conditions and other factors,there are still some shortcomings in this study,such as the small number of research samples and the lack of questionnaire surveys for students,etc.,which need to be improved and improved in the future.
