The promulgation of the English Curiculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022Edition)marks the beginning of the English curriculum reform in basic education in China into the era of core literacyin which the integration of unitized curriculum content is a key measure to ensure the implementation of core literacy in the classroom.At a time when middle school English teaching urgently needs to solve the problems of fragmentation,superficiality and labeling of English teaching,unit integrity instruction design of English meets the needs of the current English curriculum and teaching development.Guided by the deep learning concept,this study aims to explore the path of unit integrity instruction design of middle school English under the deep learning concept,and provides new possibilities for further optimizing the unit integrity instruction design of middle school English units.The specific research questions are as follows:(1)What is the actual status of middle school English teachers about the determination of unit learning themes,the formulation of learning objectives,the design of learning activities,and the design of learning assessment in the unit integrity instruction design?(2)How to carry out the unit integrity instruction design of English in middle school under the leadership of the concept of deep learning?In order to solve the above questions,this study investigated the teaching design of English teachers in a middle school in Harbin,and used the case study method to analyze the unit learning theme extraction,learning goal design,learning activity implementation,and learning assessment in the unit integrity instruction design of English of one teacher in each of the first to third grades.Next,interviews were conducted to find out the extent to which 10teachers(three teachers in the case study and seven teachers in the three grades randomly selected)knew and practiced the unit integrity instruction design.The results of the study showed that the current problems of middle school English teachers’ overall unit instructional design were mainly reflected in the following aspects.In this paper,we find that the problems of unit integrity instruction design of middle school English teachers are mainly reflected in folowing aspects.The analysis of the meaning of the unit learning theme is one-sided,the unit learning content lacks integration and structure;the formulation of unit learning objectives lacks progressiveness and is vague and scattered;the design of the overall unit learning activities is weak in gradient and superficial;the overall unit learning assessment is weak in continuity and the subject and method of classroom learning assessment are single.In response to the problems in the real situation,the author combines the deep learning teaching practice model and the requirements of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)about the overall unit teaching,and constructs a framework for the unit integrity instruction design of English units in middle school under the concept of deep learning from four aspects: unit learning themes,unit learning objectives,unit learning activities,and unit learning evaluation.Finally,based on the steps of this framework,the study selects specific middle school English units for instructional design case preparation. |
