| The times are moving forward in a great way,and education will inevitably respond to the call of the time,thinking about “what kind of people to cultivate” and“how to cultivate people” in the context of the new era.The Ministry of Education clearly pointed out that education should develop students’ core competence,and the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)advocates that teachers use the unit integrity instruction to carry out English teaching,which is considered to be an important breakthrough in the implementation of core competence of English discipline.Deep learning pays attention to the connection and construction of knowledge,emphasizes the transfer,application and creation of knowledge,and highlights the formation of self-value judgments,which is an important way to improve students’ core competence of English discipline.Therefore,deep learning provides theoretical guidance and practical direction for unit integrity instruction design,and there is a need for research on unit integrity instruction design of English discipline pointing to deep learning.Focusing on the central issue of “how to carry out unit integrity instruction design of junior middle school English discipline under the guidance of deep learning,so as to achieve the goal of promoting students’ deep learning and implementing the core competence of English discipline”,this study sorts out the research status of deep learning and unit integrity instruction design,expounds the connotation and characteristics of deep learning and unit integrity instruction design on the basis of the former research,and clarifies the relationship between them.Unit integrity instruction design provides a starting point for deep learning.Deep learning provides the general direction and specific guidance for unit integrity instruction design.This confirms the feasibility of the research.Based on previous research,this study further clarifies six characteristics of unit integrity instruction design of English discipline pointing to deep learning,namely,the leading theme,structured content,subjectivity of teachers and students,the integration of objectives,the advancement of activities,and the continuity of unit evaluation.The theoretical interpretation of deep learning and unit integrity instruction design provides a basis for the current investigation.Through questionnaire surveys and interviews,and selecting three teaching designs of two front-line junior high school English teachers and the teaching designs provided by the new English curriculum standard for case analysis,the current situation of unit integrity instruction design of English discipline was understood from a static perspective.By the classroom observation method,the actual implementation situation of unit integrity instruction design of English discipline was understood from a dynamic perspective.Through the investigation of the current situation,this study summarizes four advantages of unit integrity instruction design: constructing the framework of the unit teaching content,designing the unit objectives according to core competence of English discipline,paying attention to the application of modern technology in teaching,and emphasizing diversified activities.At the same time,this study also finds some problem: textbook analysis lacks depth and relevance;teaching content lacks structure and situationality;student analysis ignores students’ individual differences and internal needs;teaching goals lack progressiveness and integration;teaching process lacks activities pointing to deep learning;evaluation methods are conventional and the evaluation content is single;and the integrity is not obvious.There are two main reasons for the problem: first,teachers do not have a deep understanding of theory and are accustomed to previous design approach and practice methods;second,the school does not pay enough attention to it,and carries out less relevant training.Under the dual support of theory and practice,this study puts forward unit integrity instruction design ideas of junior middle school English discipline pointing to deep learning: clarifying the principles,basis and requirements of design;especially summarizing unit integrity instruction design steps,namely,selecting the leading unit learning theme,deeply analyzing the basic elements of unit teaching,clarifying the integrated results of unit,determining the continuous unit evaluation,planning advanced unit activities,and cleverly using two major supports in the design,namely,supportive learning resources and reflective design improvement;elaborating each step in conjunction with the second volume of the seventh grade of English textbooks published by People’s Education Press-Unit 5 “Why do you like pandas?”. |
