emerged,Kang Je-gyu is an outstanding representative of them.With his excellent learning ability and keen grasp of film themes,he quickly rose in the South Korean film industry,winning the South Korean Film Festival Dazhong Award,Blue Dragon Award and other new director awards at one stroke,becoming the focus of the South Korean film industry.In fact,the key to measure the value of a director is not the number of films he has directed,but whether the theme of his films is profound,whether it contains profound humanistic values,whether the way of image presentation is constantly innovative,and whether it constantly provides unique and novel creative experience for the history of film.All of Kang’s works have had a great impact on Korean society and the nation.The core of Kang Je-gyu’s film art is made up of his profound reflection on national history and social status and his humanistic care for individual life.In 1996,Kang Je-gyu independently directed his first film Ginkgo Tree Bed,which made his debut in the Korean film industry.In 1999,his "Live and Let Die" broke the box office record of "Titanic" in South Korea,a surprise,won the attention of South Korea and even the world film industry,marking the beginning of the revitalization of South Korean film,started to go to the international curtain.During the process of Korean films going global,many Korean directors gradually brought the Korean history into the world audience’s vision,and Kang Je-gyu played a pivotal role.In 2004,director Kang Je-gyu’s Taegukgi(Taegukgi)enriched the perspective of war movies by portraying war from a national perspective,breaking the box office record set by Kang Seok-woo’s Silmido Island in 2003.In 2005,Park Gwang-hyun’s "Welcome to Dongmo Village" offered a utopian vision of national reconciliation;In 2012,Landing Day,directed by Kang Je-gyu,took the idea of national reconciliation to a new level by juxtaposed the spectacle of war with the human entanglements of Confucian culture.Kang Je-gyu’s films are closely related to the two major themes of nationality and history,confronting the pain of national division,revealing sharp social problems,and searching for the track of historical change.From the perspective of a film creator,Kang Je-gyu puts forward his unique views on national reconciliation,and fulfils the artistic mission of leading the audience to constantly look back at the history,reflect on the present and look forward to the future.On the basis of systematically combing his creation process and the corresponding development background of Korean films,this paper demonstrates and evaluates the unique value and significance of Kang Je-gyu’s films and the shortcomings of his films by analyzing his influence on the creation and development of Korean films and the comparison with the films directed by the same genre,and tries to make a realistic summary of his successes and failures.To provide beneficial reference and reference for the creation of Chinese films.Based on the research method of combining text analysis and cultural exploration,this paper mainly divides into four chapters to study Kang Je-gyu’s film works from a problem-oriented perspective.The first chapter systematically combs the creation process and historical background of director Kang Je-gyu,and reviews the national position and cultural spirit contained in the themes of his films.According to the theme change direction of his typical examples,Kang Je-gyu’s creative career can be divided into three stages: initial stage,mature stage and transition stage.These three stages also correspond to the different degrees of Kang Je-gyu’s thinking on the issue of national division and political confrontation in Korea.The second chapter demonstrates the theme construction and image building of Kang Je-gyu’s films.Through the depiction of the complex images of the characters from the perspective of war,Kang Je-gyu highlights the tenacious national spirit and complex national image of the Korean nation with a small view.Behind the complex emotions,through the delicate expression techniques,he shows the helpless fate of weak individuals under the tide of The Times with profound human concern.The third chapter,from the three aspects of narrative strategy,emotional presentation and artistic expression,analyzes and analyzes the important characteristics of Kang Je-gyu’s film art and commercial elements,which are integrated and balanced.It is believed that his film achievements are mainly based on distinctive
