In modern society,parents are busy with work and their children are often left unattended.Under this background,out of school care has emerged,and daycare centers come into being,and the scale is becoming larger and larger.In order to help the client further understand the basic situation of out of school care in Scotland,entrusted by Sichuan Zhuanyi Translation Company Ltd.,the author translated partial contents of Out of School Care in Scotland Draft Framework 2019,and takes English-Chinese translation as an example to discuss the translation of this text from the perspective of Reiss’ s Text Typology theory.In her book Translation Criticism: The Potentials & Limitations,Katharina Reiss,a German translation theorist,divides texts into four types: informative texts,expressive texts,operative texts and audio-medial texts.For different texts,translators should adopt corresponding translation strategies,so as to get the appropriate target language translation.This report is based on the E-C translation of partial contents of Out of School Care in Scotland Draft Framework 2019 under the guidance of Text Typology theory proposed by Katharina Reiss.The author classifies the source text as an informative text through analysis,and the predominant function of it is to convey the information and opinions about out of school care in Scotland.Therefore,the translation should follow the principle of faithfulness,accuracy and readability.This report selects typical cases from the source text for analysis from lexical,syntactic and textual levels.At the lexical level,the report discusses the literal translation and free translation of terms,conversion,amplification and omission.At the syntactic level,the translation of clauses,passive voice and long and complex sentences are analyzed in detail.At the textual level,the author probes into the possibilities of realizing coherence and stylistic consistency.
