The parents of children with disabilities are under great pressure,and they face more physical and mental health problems than the parents of normal children.The physical and mental health of parents of disabled children not only directly affects the living conditions of disabled children,but also related to family harmony and even social load.From the perspective of positive psychology,this study investigates the current situation of posttraumatic growth of parents of disabled children,and inquiry the influencing factors of their posttraumatic growth,in order to provide a reference basis for improving the posttraumatic growth level of parents of disabled children and improving their physical and mental health.In the quantitative part of this study," Perceived Social Support Scale","General Self-Efficacy Scale","Chinese Posttraumatic Growth Inventory " and self-compiled demographic questionnaire were used to investigate and study 243 parents of children with disabilities.There are 222 valid questionnaires,with an effective rate of 91%.Based on the analysis of the questionnaire data collected,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)The perceived social support(55.18 ± 15.54)and post-traumatic growth experienced by the parents of children with disabilities are at a moderate level(58.25± 18.42),and the sense of self-efficacy is low(22.54 ± 6.92);(2)Gender,income level,and employment status have a significant impact on the level of social support perceived by parents of disabled children;gender,age,income level,education level,and employment status have a significant impact on the self-efficacy of parents of disabled children;gender,age,employment status,whether the child is an only child,and the age of the child have a significant impact on the post-traumatic growth of parents of disabled children;(3)Social support has a significant positive predictive effect on post-traumatic growth(β = 0.57,t = 10.40,p < 0.001)(4)Social support can predict post-traumatic growth through the mediating effect of self-efficacy,and the mediating effect accounts for 43.88% of the total effect.In order to further explore the post-traumatic growth of parents of disabled children and its influencing factors,on the basis of quantitative research,15 parents of disabled children were interviewed by using a self-designed semi-structured interview outline,and the rooted theory was used to encode and analyze the interview content.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)the post-traumatic growth of parents of disabled children is mainly manifested in five aspects,namely,parenting role,life perception,resistance,family relationship and altruistic tendency.it is different from the five dimensions divided in the quantitative study.(2)the stress of parenting,negative living environment and negative physical and mental reactions can inhibit the post-traumatic growth of parents of disabled children.(3)Social support and positive personal characteristics(positive coping,high self-efficacy,high level of hope,positive personality traits)can promote the post-traumatic growth of parents of disabled children.This study believes that the post-traumatic growth level of parents of disabled children can be improved from the following three levels.From the personal level,parents of children with disabilities should actively seek and make use of all available social support to actively solve problems;from the family level,families of children with disabilities should maintain stability and unity,create a supportive family environment;from the social level,society should improve the awareness of disabled groups and improve the inclusion and acceptance of disabled children and their families. |
