| Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Jiao’s scalp acupuncture in the treatment of insomnia of the liver-depression-fire type, and to provide reference for the clinical treatment of insomnia of the liver-depression-fire type by acupuncture. Methods: Sixty-six patients who met the criteria for insomnia were included and stochastic organized into therapy and control groups, with 33 patients in each group. The treatment group added the mental-emotional zone and the dizzy-hearing zone to the conventional acupuncture, while the control group took the conventional acupuncture.Treatment was given 6 times a week for 4 weeks. The subjects were scored statistically on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)scale as well as the Chinese Medicine Evidence Score Scale before and after therapy and at follow-up,and the clinical efficacy of the patients was assessed based on the data collected.Results:1.Information at baseline(sexuality, age, course of disease, pretherapy PSQI score and evidence score)was comparable amongst the two teams(p>0.05).2.Compare in the group: Compared with baseline, the total PSQI scale score, each factor score and TCM symptom scale score of the two groups after therapy and at follow-up were dramatically ameliorated(P<0.05),except for the control group, where there was no significant improvement in sleep efficiency and sleep disorder at follow-up(P>0.05).3.Comparison between groups: The PSQI scale total score, each factor score and Chinese medicine symptom scale scores were compared between the two groups after treatment and at follow-up,there was no dramatic difference between the two groups in terms of PSQI factor scores at follow-up;the therapy group was preferable than the control group in terms of sleep efficiency after the intervention, but there was no dramatic difference in the remaining factors;the therapy group was dramatic preferable than that of the matched group in terms of PSQI scale total score and Chinese medicine symptom scale scores after therapy and at follow-up(P<0.05).The therapy group was dramatically preferable than the control group(P<0.05).4.Compared with around two groups of clinical curative effects, the overall response rate of the therapy group was 87.50%,which was preferable than that of the matched group at 74.19%,with a dramatic difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Both Jiao’s scalp acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture and conventional acupuncture alone can effectively treat insomnia of the liver-depression-fire type, and the efficacy of Jiao’s scalp acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture is preferable than that of conventional acupuncture alone, with preferable long-term effects.2.Jiao’s scalp acupuncture combined with conventional acupuncture is preferable than conventional acupuncture alone in reducing the total PSQI score and TCM evidence points, and can effectively improve the patient’s sleep quality and symptoms of liver-depression-fire insomnia. |
